The environment is of great concern to Lundhs and we do our best to minimalize damage to the planet at all of our quarries.
First and foremost, when we obtain stone from our quarries we do so in terrain where the volume is withdrawn, and second our deposits for futile stone makes new nature conformations.
Our quarries are established in accordance with approved regulations and detailed operational plans. It is important to us to establish the quarries in such a way that they are not so visible from the surrounding areas and the quarry beds are exposed as little as possible.
The deposit areas are developed in such a way that they resemble the surrounding countryside as closely as possible and covered with humus matter. In the long run similar vegetation to the surrounding areas will grow back. Our primary long term goal is to insure that these areas will not be distinguishable from the surrounding countryside once the vegetation has re-grown.
We are also very aware of dust, noise and water pollution.
Noise and dust pollution have been greatly reduced through the use of modern machinery. In addition to this, a changeover from drilling the blocks to sawing them, has resulted in a considerable reduction in noise levels during the production process.
A few streams and rivers are also affected by rock dust from the quarries. During a comprehensive project where Norway’s leading experts where employed, we have been able to document the facts surrounding this problem. It has to a great extent been established that rock dust has no biological side effects, since animal life, with few exceptions, has remained unchanged. The problem is exclusively aesthetic. There is no evidence that any harmful substances are released from any of our operations.
Our work with this continues, and we are continually working with projects to find solutions to environmental problems. We have already achieved considerable results through bringing into use sedimentation tanks and infiltration through the ground.
Beyond this we tackle environmental concerns like any other industrial operation.
