When the stone is flamed, it obtains a surface, which is lightly structured, and without gloss. This finish is an alternative when the requirement is a non-slippery surface, like for outdoor paving.

It can also be used for cladding or other surfaces when no reflection is a requirement. The crystals are not much visible and the colour is lighter for a dry flamed surface, but when exposed to water or liquids the crystals appears and the colour gets darker.

The benefits are that defects in the stone is not very much visible, so it can be made of stone of a lower quality which reduces of cost per m² of finished product.
