There has been a trend over perhaps the last 10 years, that a matt finish has become a quite popular alternative to a finish with high gloss. Honed finish is an alternative for a polished finish. The gloss level is lower than for the polished, but it is also a smooth finish without any structure. The crystals and the colour of the stone changes character compared to the polished finish.
