When Larvik wanted to honour their and arguably Norway’s most famous citizen, Mr. Thor Heyerdahl with a sculpture, it was obviously done in Larvikite from Lundhs as Larvik was his birthplace. The Lundhs family has for more than three decades supported sculptors by inviting them to come to us to work and thrive in a creative environment.
Lundhs materials is also widely used in Scandinavia, France, Poland, Japan and other countries with similar funeral traditions, to honour a member of the family who has passed away by a monument made of Lundhs granites. It is a strong tradition that is related to how the material is keeping it’s appearance over centuries similar to peoples wish to preserve the memories and remembrance of their sacred family members.
